Holiday Pottery Series — Intermediate

Celebrate the season in clay! This four-week intermediate series combines holiday cheer with serious skill-building, giving you the chance to create a collection of festive pieces while tackling some of pottery’s most rewarding techniques.

Each week focuses on a distinct intermediate skill, so you’ll leave not just with beautiful holiday pieces — but with new abilities that will elevate everything you make going forward.

Week 1 — Closed Forms: We kick off the series by mastering the art of closing in a form, creating charming Christmas trees or round, dimensional pumpkins. This technique challenges you to control your walls all the way to the top, resulting in sculptural, fully three-dimensional pieces.

Week 2 — Lidded Forms: Nothing says holiday baking season like a beautiful cookie jar. This week you’ll tackle the satisfying puzzle of throwing a pot and a fitted lid together, learning to measure, match, and finish two pieces as one.

Week 3 — Interlocking Forms: Level up with a coordinated Santa mug and cookie plate designed to nest together perfectly. You’ll learn to plan and throw multiple pieces with intention, creating a set that’s as functional as it is festive.

Week 4 — Pouring Forms: We close out the series with the elegance of a well-designed pour — creamers, gravy boats, or syrup pitchers. You’ll learn how to pull a spout, balance a form, and think through the flow and function that make a pouring vessel truly satisfying to use.

This series is designed for students who are comfortable centering and pulling basic cylinder and bowl forms. All four sessions build toward a cohesive holiday collection perfect for gifting, entertaining, or selling.

Bonus: Enrollment in this workshop includes unlimited open studio access for the month, allowing you to practice, refine, and finish your pieces outside of class time.

Supplies - We will use reclaimed clay. If you want to use your own clay, please feel free; we just don't provide all the clay bodies. You will need to provide your own tools.
