In this beginner metalsmith class, students will complete a
beautiful sterling silver and stone pendant featuring an overlay design.
Overlay adds dimensionality, interest, and contrast to your work, and
involves a technique called sweat soldering. You will also learn tips
and tricks for sawing, drilling, making a bezel, stone setting and more.
No prior experience is required.
Jama Crawford is a retired,
part-time Stillwater resident who also lives in Durango, Colorado. Her
career was in science and museum education, which included artistic
pursuits such as scientific illustration and exhibit design and
fabrication. A lifelong “maker,” she began to metalsmith 12 years ago.
She has taught dozens of metalsmith classes on a wide variety of
beginner topics. She also enjoys watercolors, making videos, hiking, and
woodworking.
