House of Wax Workshop

Description

Students will learn how to use encaustic wax to embellish small
wooden houses.  The class employs wax pellets, pigment and heat guns to
create melted surfaces which adhere collage materials to wooden house
forms. This melted medium provides opportunities for unexpected beauty
and freedom of color and form.  Students will take home two completed
wax houses. The class is limited to 10 participants to allow for
individual attention.  Be prepared to get messy and have fun!  Please
bring an apron or wear old clothes.  All supplies are provided for an
additional $20, paid to the instructor at the beginning of class.
Students are, however, encouraged to bring favorite papers, collage
materials and found objects to personalize their houses.
